MEC Mahlangu launches New Priority Schools Programme (NPSP) for Gauteng schools

MEC for Infrastructure Development, Ms. Qedani Mahlangu will launch the New Priority Schools Programme (NPSP) for 5 new schools, which are set to be completed in a record breaking period of 8 months.

“Gauteng’s success in becoming a Global City Region has resulted in in-migration into the Province therein placing additional demands for access to education. In January 2012, Gauteng enrolled 88 000 learners from outside the province. This challenge calls for faster and more efficient methods of constructing schools. The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development is responding to this challenge through the launch of the New Priority Schools Programme”, said MEC Mahlangu.

The launch details are as follows:

Venue: Chief Albert Luthuli, Daveyton, Springs
Date: 30 October 2012
Time: 10h00

The MEC will also visit three other Gauteng school sites in Soweto, Katlehong, and Noordwyk for handover to contractors, who will commence work thereafter.
