The Honourable MEC for Eastern Cape Social Development and Special Programmes, Ms Pemmy Majodina will visit the Efata School for the Blind in Umtata tomorrow, 19 January 2010, and Manzana in Engcobo thereafter.
The MEC will be visiting these schools to check their readiness in commencing classes and to check challenges that the department can intervene in. As custodians of children, the well being of children is our top priority.
These visits form part of the Back to school campaign. Last year, the department utilised R100 000, 00 to supply more than 300 children with school uniforms and suppliers. This year the department has increased the scope and budget.
