MEC Kasienyane to officially open revitalised accident and emergency trauma unit at Job Shimankane Hospital

North West MEC for Health and Social Development, Rebecca Kasienyane, will officially open a revitalised accident and emergency trauma unit equipped with modern health care technology at the Job Shimankane Tabane hospital in Rustenburg, Friday, 16 October, to improve service delivery.

The unit was revitalised at a cost of R30 million. The hospital sees 8 000 patients per month and more than 50 percent of these patients are trauma cases. The unit revitalisation is part of ongoing revitalisations projects in Bojanala Platinum district health facilities in preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup intended to improve the emergency and clinical service delivery, particularly the trauma units.

The unit is fully equipped with modern health care technology that includes electronic and hydraulic resuscitation, gynaecology beds, complex patient monitors, a digital x-ray machine and electronic access control doors to allow smooth flow.

A quality health care service is one of priorities areas to ensure effective management of injuries, diseases and outbreak that may arise during a month long tournament.

The media is invited.
