MEC Kasienyane to launch governance structures

North West MEC for Health and Social Development, Rebecca Kasienyane will launch governance structures in four districts to ultimately position them as a platform upon which communities will address their service delivery concerns from the premise of building a healthier North West province that truly belong to all those who live in it. The first governance structure will be launched in Bojanala Platinum District followed by Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati and Ngaka Modiri Molema respectively.

The launch of governance structures in the province is in response to a legislative requirement in terms of the Health Act no 61 of 2003. This act serves as an instrument of the poor in their continuous struggle to overcome the legacy of poverty, diseases and underdevelopment. It is also the only hope that indeed our government is moving with speed to ensure that people are not denied access to health facilities because they cannot afford to pay or does not have medical aid.

Governance structures will stand in the forefront of the struggle of people to find their legitimate share in the governance and transformation of health institution and health system generally. They represent community’s interests and views in the department.
