MEC Ismail Vadi conducts site visits at Ekurhuleni major projects, 11 Mar

Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport Dr Ismail Vadi will visit the rehabilitated P6-1 (R25) and constructed P4-1 (Nederveen Road) roads projects.

The R400 million projects will revitalise the Eastern corridor with decisive action to build and reindustrialise new economy, the Nederveen road construction project in Ekurhuleni entails the construction of a dual carriageway between Van Dyk Road (P58-1) and Diana Road (P140-1).

The objective of the construction project is to provide increased capacity as well as improve accessibility for future development in the Vosloorus, Leondale and southern Ekurhuleni areas. The route also forms part of the strategic public transport network.

The rehabilitation of R25 route between Bapsfontein and Bronkhorspruit was undertaken due to the road being in a relatively poor, dangerous driving condition with very high traffic volumes.

The project provided Broad Based Black Economic Enterprise contractors with a substantial portion of the work, offered training to local to execute the work with a high degree of safety. The contractor employed 57 labourers.
