MEC to introduce Rural Development Agency (RDA)

The media and stakeholders' breakfast scheduled to take place at the East London ICC on 3 April 20112 to introduce the Rural Development Agency (RDA) has been cancelled until further notice.

The date for this occasion, which is deemed very essential will be announced in due course.
We regret any inconvenience this cancelation might have caused.

Honourable MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform Zoleka Capa cordially invites members of the media to join her in the media and stakeholders breakfast to introduce Rural Development Agency (RDA).

The establishment of the agency has already been approved by the Cabinet to commerce its work on April 1, 2012.

The main purpose of this engagement to introduce the RDA as a catalyst to rural development and the Honourable MEC will outline the key priorities and focus areas of the agency.

The agency seeks to integrate the work done by Asigisa-EC, Eastern Cape Appropriate Technology Unit (ECATU) and the Eastern Cape Rural Finance Corporation (ECRFC) which is commonly known as Uvimba Bank.

Also invited are the MECs from the economic development sector who will outline how their respective roles in support of the Agency.

The MEC – after engaging the media and stakeholders that include traditional leaders, church leaders, farmers associations, politicians and business people will go on road shows to all the Districts and Metros to introduce the RDA to the general public.

Members of the media are encouraged to form part of this important introduction of an Agency that will be at the forefront of the government’s efforts to create sustainable and vibrant rural livelihoods.
