MEC hosts strategic stakeholders’ breakfast meeting

In a bid to further strengthen the prospects of the Department of Roads and Transport to achieve its goals and mandate, the MEC has seen it fit to meet and engage with key stakeholders. The strategic partnership breakfast meeting will take place at the Emoyeni Conference Centre, Parktown, Johannesburg on 5 March 2010.

Since assuming office last year, the MEC and the newly constituted department have not been formally introduced to key stakeholders in the roads and transport sectors. Through this meeting the department will have the opportunity learn and share experiences with established organisations in these sectors.

The objectives of the breakfast meeting include the following amongst others:

* to formally introduce the MEC to stakeholders
* to present the department’s five years strategic programme
* to brief stakeholders on roads maintenance and construction plans
* to present key projects and programmes for the department
* to present the state of preparedness of the department regarding the 2010 FIFA World Cup
* to forge partnerships in support of and the provision of expertise in public transport and capital projects well into the future.

The department, through such interactions, expects to build sustainable and productive relations and partnerships that will enhance the facilitation of quality service provision to the residents of Gauteng.
