MEC Helen Sauls-August to conduct service delivery activities in Alfred Nzo region

MEC for Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison Helen Sauls-August will conduct a serious of service delivery activities in the Alfred Nzo region which includes handing over of 100 houses to destitute families in Mount Ayliff and the delivery of 240 school shirts, socks and shoes to destitute school children in Antioch Junior Secondary School as part of her “House a family, dress a school child campaign” aimed at providing school uniforms and books to our beneficiaries and creating a conducive environment for learning. These activities will officially commence the 2012 Human Settlements Month Campaign for the Ministry.

The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. This year; World Habitat Day will be celebrated on 1 October 2012. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all, to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of human habitat.

The 100 Housing Beneficiaries are from Nkungwini, Nguse, Dundee and Mount Ayliff and 240 school learners are from Nqalweni/Matyeni, an area where the MEC launched the rural voucher Scheme in March 2012. She will also visit the project site to check progress on the building of houses launched in March this year.
