The MEC for Health in province, Mr Mxolisi Sokatsha, would like to take this opportunity to invite all media as well as to inform the people of Schmitsdrift of his planned visit and Ministerial Health Campaign to their community.
This campaign is the vehicle used by the Honourable MEC to ensure essential health services are delivered free to the people of the Northern Cape and in walking distance from their homes.
Furthermore, Honourable MEC Sokatsha will also visit the local health facility to determine service delivery challenges being faced.
The MEC will also through community dialogue, inform community members about the health department’s plans, programmes and projects as well as creating the platform for community members to raise health service delivery challenges being faced by them in their respective communities.
Critical to our campaign success requires that we confront the quadruple pandemic:
- HIV, AIDS, Tuberculosis(TB), Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STI)
- Maternal, Infant and under-five Mortality
- Violence and abuse
- Non-communicable diseases like high blood pressure, heart diseases, diabetes mellitus and cancer.
The free health services to be provided will be Oral clinics, Male and female condom distribution, TB screening, HIV Counselling and Testing, Sugar level testing, Blood pressure testing.
Date: Thursday, 9 February 2012
Venue: Community Hall, Schmitsdrift, Siyancuma Municipality, Pixley-Ka Seme District
Time: 9h00 to 17h00
Despite achievements in improving access to health care, however much more still needs to be done in terms of quality of care, making services available to all citizens of our province and ensuring better health outcomes.
We call upon the community of Schmitsdrift to support the campaign and access the services to be rendered to ensure we build healthy communities.
Working together, we can do more!
