MEC to have public meeting at Orange Groove informal settlements

MEC for Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison Helen Sauls-August will conduct a public meeting with the community of Orange Groove informal settlement in East London.

The department last year concluded a land transaction at a cost of for R3.5 million for human settlements development in the area. The land will be used to build new homes for Orange Groove shack dwellers. Schools, clinics and sport fields form part of the human settlements development plan for the area. The MEC will interact with the communities on the concerns and complaints relating to the handover of the land to the community.
