Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi will hand the 34 completed RDP houses to beneficiaries in commemoration of the UN World Habitat. The department partnered with Habitat for Humanity South Africa and several major corporations to build 34 houses in five days.
The housing build is themed “Building Communities Brick by Brick” and will benefit the poor community of Orange Farm. This year also marks the completion of the 500 000th Habitat home worldwide - the main celebration being in Kenya where the 500 000th houses will be built.
