The Honourable MEC for Social Development and Special Programmes, Ms Pemmy Majodina will handover 20 donated computers and 58 school uniforms at Sunduza Junior Secondary School, Sterkspruit on the 8 April 2010 at 10:00.
The department will be handing over the computers in partnership with other government departments, the Eastern Cape Gambling and betting board and other stakeholders. Sunduza Junior Secondary School falls under ward 9, one of the underprivileged wards in Sengqu. A total of 58 learners from Sunduza J.S.S will also receive school uniforms and food parcels will be handed out to the most needy families.
As a means to alleviate and improve conditions people in ward 9 are living under the department has implemented the following interventions:
- Skills Development Programme (Ngquba)
- Service Centre for older persons (kroomspruit)
- Early Childhood Development Centre (Sunduza)
With this initiative the department aims to strengthen partnerships in dealing with issues of child poverty.
