MEC to go on housing construction sites

The MEC for Local Government and Housing will visit the construction sites in Johannesburg and Tshwane. This follows an outcry that contractors had pulled out of construction sites. The MEC further received complaints that there were many finished houses which were unoccupied and some without water connections. The visits will conclude in Tshwane Mamelodi were the MEC will have a meeting with stakeholders.

The visits are also aimed at looking deeper into issues of housing delivery and the available stock which is ready to be allocated to communities such that houses do not remain empty after they have been completed by contractors.
