MEC Ghishma Barry to open the Motherwell to Addo Road

As part of the Executive Council Outreach Programme in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Eastern Cape MEC for Transport and Safety Ms Ghishma Barry will open the Motherwell to Addo Road stretch from the N2 to Maku Street, Motherwell, tomorrow 14 July 2009 at 11h00.

This new four lane dual carriageway road forms part of the Department of Roads and Transport’s 2010 infrastructure projects and will improve access to the coega industrial development zone and deepwater port, Markman Township, General Motors, the residential areas of Wells Estate, Ikamvelihle and Motherwell as well as to Uitenhage and the Addo National Elephant Park.

MEC Barry together with the MEC for Local Government Sicelo Gqobana and the Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay Councillor Nondumiso Maphazi will also turn the sod to mark the start of construction of the Maku Road Overhead Bridge in an effort to prevent road accidents that involve pedestrians, who crossed the road between Motherwell and Ikamvelihle.

She will further outline future plans for the entire route from Motherwell to Addo and other strategic routes that form part of the 2010 infrastructure projects within the Metro.
