As part of her 2009 October Transport Month campaign, Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Honourable Ghishma Barry will officially launch the Ukhahlamba district alternative surfacing projects on Thursday, 15 October 2009 at 10h00.
The event will be held on T84 Alternative Surfacing project at Ezingonyameni Village in Mount Fletcher.
“This occasion marks the successful integration of our Inaccessible and Impassable Roads programme into the Alternative Surfacing Technologies programme,” says MEC Barry.
The Ukhahlamba Alternative Surfacing Projects for this financial year include:
* R56-Zingcuka (T84)
* R56-Tsitsana (T83)
* Hershell-Covell
These projects have created jobs and improved the accessibility and mobility of rural communities.
