MEC Ghishma Barry to hand over a record 200 bicycles to Qumbu Technical high school

Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Ghishma Barry, will officially hand over a record 200 bicycles to Qumbu Technical High School at Tsilitwa village in Qumbu tomorrow at 9h00

This is the first time in the history of the Shova Kalula bicycle project that one school receives such a number of bicycles. The project assists learners who travel long distances to reach schools.

During this event, MEC Barry will simultaneously host a Department of Transport exhibition, where various directorates will provide services to the people, which include:

* customer care
* supply chain management (to register suppliers in the department’s database)
* traffic Safety
* traffic administration and licensing
* public transport
* human resource development (to provide forms for bursaries, learnerships and internships)
* community-based transportation
* and give information on road construction projects etc.

A mini-road show will be hosted by the department officials as follows:
