The Gauteng MEC for Finance Mr Mandla Nkomfe and MEC for Health and Social Development, Ms Ntombi Mekgwe will officially visit schools in the Mogale City area; as part of the Gauteng Provincial Government’s drive to ensure that learning and teaching happens on the first day. The two MECs will be accompanied by the Mayor of Mogale City, Mr Calvin Seerane and officials from the district.
After Gauteng achieved the highest matric pass rate, it is imperative to build on this success by working with relevant stakeholders, teachers, parents, learners and the community, to foster a culture of learning. The MECs and the mayor will take part in handing over school uniforms and shoes to needy learners at four schools. These schools are Mashudu Primary, Kagiso Secondary, Maatla Combined and Blair Athol Primary.
They have identified these schools to inspire and motivate the learners and staff to achieve more in the current year and in the future. Mashudu primary is a new school while Kagiso Secondary is a school that has a number of challenges. Maatla Combined and Blair Atholl are farm schools where Gauteng wants to improve the working conditions for the learners and teachers.
