MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs China Dodovu will host districts engagement sessions with local government stakeholders across the province. The aim of the sessions is to provide general overview and support to municipalities and engage on key areas which the department has set for itself to maximise performance in municipalities.
Such areas includes:
- municipal financial viability
- maximising Public Participation
- stabilising Governance in Municipalities
- municipal infrastructure planning and delivery and
- stabilising governance in key traditional leadership areas.
The MEC in particular will be engaging Community Development Workers (CDWs), Traditional Affairs staff members, councillors and ward councillors including two ward committee members per ward.
The district wide engagements will be held as follows:
- 12 June 2012: Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, Municipal Banquet Hall, Vryburg at 8h00
- 19 June 2012: Bojanala Platinum District, Rustenburg
- 21 June 2012: Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Klerksdorp
- 3 July 2012: Ngaka Modiri Molema District, Mahikeng
