MEC Desbo Mohono to hand over three agricultural projects in the Dr RSM District Municipality
MEC Desbo Mohono of North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will tomorrow Friday, 07 August 2020 officially hand over three (03) agricultural projects in Vryburg town and Taung in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality.
The handing over of these projects is part of the support that the department is giving to farmers to enable them to farm optimally and sustainably which will translate into the improvement of the livelihoods of the farmers and surrounding communities.
These three projects are; Thota ya Tau Fish Harvest Primary Co-operative and King SK Farming Project which are both in Taung and Tshepanang Poultry Trust Project in Vryburg. They are all funded and supported by the North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The department has been engaged with the rolling-out of infrastructural development, the purchasing of implements and machinery, production inputs, and farmer support for smallholder farmers across the province.
The improvement of livelihoods has a multiplier effect in that it addresses government’s programme, which includes the contribution of the smallholder farmer and historically disadvantaged farmers to the agricultural GDP which is significant.
