MEC calls crucial Imbizo at Makgobaskloof

The MEC for the Limpopo Department of Agriculture, Mme Dipuo Letsatsi Duba has called a crucial Imbizo for the children, grandchildren and residence of Makgobaskloof this weekend, 11 December 2010, at Tzaneen show grounds.

The Imbizo initially scheduled of Ga-Chulies next to the much talked about Makgobaskloof Tea Estate has been moved to the Show Grounds because of the heavy rains in the past few days. It is expected that thousands of people will attend to the Imbizo because much is at stake.

The MEC wishes to refute with strongest terms, allegations in a weekly paper that “about “R25million of tax payers monies are going to be squandered in AIDS tea”. There is no such money being used for the so-called “AIDS tea”. The budget for the revitalisation of the tea estate, which the MEC will discuss with the community this Saturday, is about R15 million and was presented to the legislature, during her budget speech earlier this year.

The MEC, accompanied by the Mayor of Mopani District, and the Mayor of Tzaneen Municipalities will outline how the budget will be utilised in the first phase of the revitalisation, and the more than 2 000 job opportunities to be created.

Transport arrangements for the community have been made and will be communicated through the media.
