Over a thousand housing beneficiaries are to receive an intensive housing consumer education awareness and Community Development Workers (CDW) training at Klerksdorp Recreation Centre in Matlosana in the North West Province from Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 February 2012.
North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Ms Desbo Mohono says that the information session is aimed at empowering beneficiaries of houses approved for the housing development project under construction in the area on their rights and responsibilities as housing consumers.
MEC Mohono outlined that the session is expected to cover issues that include understanding the value of houses, implications of signing “happy letters”, failure to occupy houses for which housing subsidy was granted, conditions of the National Home Builders Registration Councilstructural insurance and five-year warranty on their houses.
The session is to be conducted by officials from the Municipal Support Unit from the Human Settlements Branch of the Provincial Department in partnership with Matlosana Local Municipality.
