Within the context of the above, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) along with other national departments including the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and Provincial Governments are participating and supporting the MRDI as a platform to accelerate the execution and implementation of its respective mandates. Several private sector organisations are also on board and pledging support to this initiative through public-private partnerships.

President Jacob Zuma will be involved in various developmental projects in the North West province on 25 to 26 August 2012. The opening of an Agro Hub, the upgrade of an Irrigation Scheme, Livestock projects and several other food security projects form part of the programme.
