Gauteng Premier, Nomvula Mokonyane, and members of the Gauteng Executive Council will be repairing, cleaning and improving schools across the province on Sunday, 18 July 2010 in celebration of Nelson Mandela's life and legacy.
Companies who do business with government will also be doing their bit on Mandela Day and beyond. Businesses will offer contributions which range from adopting schools to providing cash donations for infrastructure needs.
Mandela Day is an annual International Day of Humanitarian Action celebrated on 18 July the former president's birthday. Individuals are requested to give at least 67 minutes of their time in service to their communities on this day.
