Makgoe opens Harrismith IT Hub in honour of Mandela Day

Free State Education MEC, Tate Makgoe will officially open Harrismith  Information Technology (IT) Hub in honour of Mandela Day on Saturday, 16 July in Harrismith.

Hundred unemployed youth are set to benefit from this programme, as they will be offered free training and acquire critical skills in IT field. The hub is a significant injunction of the Free State government in contributing to the achievement of the prescripts of the National Skills Development Strategy.

The MEC will also bid farewell to Vulindlela seven learners off to Paris on an educational trip to learn and share best practices and also hand-over Ten Thousand Rands to the schools, as promised by Free State Premier last year during Operation Hlasela visit to the school.

Other activities include 67 minutes of painting Vulindlela School which Mandla Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela, will take part in. Other activities include the former Principal Ms Mfusi’s 90th birthday celebration and Vulindlela 50th Jubilee.

Mandela Day is celebrated internationally on 18 July in honour of the first black South African president and is used to encourage others to make a difference in their communities.

The theme for this year’s Mandela Day is “Take Action, Inspire Change. Make Everyday Day a Mandela Day.
