Free State Education MEC, Tate Makgoe will celebrate the teaching profession by honouring hard working educators on Thursday, 28 October 2010 at ILanga Estate in Bloemfontein during the 2010 National Teaching Award.
The aim of the National Teaching Awards, now in its tenth year is to recognise and encourage excellence in education. Other objective include: honouring dedicated, creative and effective teachers and schools, encourage best practices in schools.
Free State was the best performing province last year scooping four awards out of eight categories nationally.
The National Teaching Awards has eight categories, which are as follows:
- Excellence in Primary School Teaching
- Excellence in SecondarySchool Teaching
- Excellence in Primary School Leadership
- Excellence in Secondary School Leadership
- Excellence in Grade R Teaching
- Excellencein Inclusive Education and Special Needs Teaching
- Excellence in Adult Basic Education and Training
- Lifetime Achievement Award
Provincial winners in above mentioned category will be eligible for the National Teacher Awards next month. The media is invited to attend. The details of the event are as follows:
