Free State Education MEC Tate Makgoe will on Monday, 21 December give early Christmas presents to about 40 Tatello Special School learners.
These learners are referred to the school by court after having committed criminal offences for rehabilitation purposes.
‘Father Christmas’ Makgoe said he and his top management including the Head of Department (HOD) Stanley Malope want to share the spirit of Christmas, forgiveness and caring with these learners.
“After all they are our children – they are our future – we can’t afford to judge and just reject them as criminals and outcasts,” said Makgoe.
“Most of these learners are from disadvantages families and are lured to criminality by conditions of poverty and other socio-economic ills. We want to motivate and give them hope,” he said.
The celebration will also be attended by former Lesedi FM popular presenter, Thuso Motoung and motivational speaker Conrad Henny who is an ex-convict.
