Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile, will pay courtesy visits to Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns at their training grounds at Sturrock Park and Chloorkop, respectively on Friday, 5 August.
The visits are aimed at encouraging both teams ahead of their MTN8 tournament encounters over the weekend where the Brazilians will play against Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium, while Wits takes on Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon at the FNB Stadium.
“We want to cheer all five Gauteng based teams participating in this tournament and encourage them to keep the prestigious trophy in the province. We are the home of champions and as such have to rally behind our teams in their mission to conquer and bring the trophies home. “We are also making a call to supporters of football to show passion for the game by attending the matches and supporting the teams”, said Maile.
Meanwhile, MEC Maile is expected to be at the Currie Cup match between the Blue Bulls and Golden Lions at Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane on Saturday. He will juggle his time to also attend all the Gauteng based MTN8 matches this weekend.
