Magadzi takes health services to prisons

In an endeavour to fight diseases MEC for Health Dikeledi Magadzi will embark on an Intensified Case Finding and HIV Counseling and Testing Campaign at Tzaneen Correctional Services with the aim of reaching all the South Africans.

Magadzi says the purpose of the campaign is to interrupt the ongoing transmission of infection at prisons and community level, to identify people with TB and HIV diseases and initiate treatment early.

"We believe that through the campaign we will be able to prevent the development of active TB disease amongst the HIV positive by providing Isoniazid Preventative Therapy and also to give information to the inmates about the symptoms of TB so that they can start demanding the services." said Magadzi.
