Members of the media are invited to the provincial Community Development Worker (CDW) Summit to be hosted in the province of Limpopo.
The main objective of the provincial summit is to consult stakeholders at a provincial level on the content of the CDW policy. Government is aware of the service delivery challenges in our communities. The rationale for the development of the CDW policy emanates from a gap that has been identified between the provision of government service and the effective utilisation of service delivery by members of poor and disadvantaged communities.
The CDW programme is an integral part of government's access strategy, designed for the purpose of accelerating service delivery by taking government services to communities. The provincial CDW summits are government's response to the issues raised.
The Deputy Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Mr Roy Padayachie will be in the province to attend to these challenges and to consequently draft policy that will aid in the acceleration of service delivery in a practical way through CDW's.
Also present at the summit will be Limpopo MEC for Local Government and Housing, Mr Soviet Lekganyane.
