Limpopo Premier opens House of Traditional Leaders

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Cassel Mathale, will officially open the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders scheduled as follows:

Date: 4 March 2011 (Friday)
Venue: Tshakhuma Traditional Council – Thulamela Local Municipality – Vhembe District
Time: 09h00

The House of Traditional Leaders is a statutory body emanating from the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, whose primary objective is to give a role to the institution (of traditional leadership) at the highest level of governance.

The other key objective is to promote relations with state organs and non-governmental organisations. This is further aimed at ensuring smooth flow of information within institutions and between government and traditional communities with a view to enhancing the implementation of policies and programmes.

The deeper understanding of customary values and the prevention and resolution of disputes as well as issues affecting custom and customary African law also constitute the basis for the foundation of relations between government and the institution of traditional leadership.
