Limpopo housing demand database campaign

The department has embarked in a new demand database campaign, under the theme “etliseng”. The campaign will encourage all Limpopo residents who have applied for government houses to come forward and update their details on the demand database. By coming forward, residents will be assisting the department to plan efficiently as well as making sure that houses are allocated to rightful beneficiaries.

The department is piloting the programme in these ten growth points’ municipalities
* Ba-Phalaborwa
* Elias Motsoaledi
* Greater Tubatse
* Greater Tzaneen
* Greater Giyani
* Lephalale
* Makhado
* Mogalakwena
* Polokwane
* Thabazimbi

Residents are requested to bring along their identity documents (IDs) and other relevant documents. This is a new housing registration system to be used for planning of housing developments and allocations in the province and it is a system that will radically turn around housing delivery in the province ensuring that the planning for housing development is done according to customer demand, need and affordability. The new system, known as the demand database, will replace the housing waiting list in the province.

The demand database is meant to accelerate the delivery of housing as it will provide the department with the accurate details of all customers in need of housing in the province. Unlike the waiting list, all households qualifying for various government subsidies and in need of housing products ranging from free Reconstruction Development Project (RDP) housing, to rental and bonded housing, for households earning up to R7 500, will be registered on the demand database.

"The housing waiting list only allowed us to register for the RDP housing demand and this has made it difficult for us to plan appropriately as a substantial number of people in the province are looking alternative accommodation such as affordable rental and subsidised housing.

With the new system Limpopo housing wants to update the details so that every household in need of accommodation should be assisted.

The launch will be held as follows:
Date: 14 August 2009
Venue: The Ranch
Time: 10h00
