Limpopo gears up for provincial anti-corruption summit

The Premier of Limpopo, Mr Cassel Mathale, will lead the provincial government, the business community and civil society structures in the province during the Provincial Anti-Corrution Summit on 9 December 2010.

The one-day summit will also culminate in the launch of the Limpopo Anti-Corruption Forum (LACF), which is comprised of political heads, the Director-General and the Heads of Department, Members of the Senior Management Services, the Public Service Commission, the business community and civil society structures.

The provincial government has taken a stance against corruption which is affecting the speed of service delivery to the communities. The International Corruption Day also highlights the importance of discouraging corrupt practices such as tender-rigging, collusion, over-pricing and cover-coating.

We need to recognise the need for moral regeneration and ethical conduct across all sectors of our society,” says provincial MEC for Housing and Local Government Soviet Lekganyane, who is also the chairperson of the Governance and Administration Cluster.

“We need to emerge from the forum having recommitted ourselves to an unceasing battle against the scourge of corruption and that Limpopo is no sanctuary for corrupt individuals,” MEC Lekganyane says.
