Limpopo Executive Council visits (Hoedspruit) Maruleng Local Municipality

Tomorrow, 1 February 2012, Premier Cassel Mathale will lead his entire Executive Council (EXCO) to meet with the people around Maruleng Local Municipality to obtain firsthand information on the impact of the damages caused by the recent floods in the area.

The visit is scheduled as follows:

Venue: Maruleng Municipal Offices in Hoedspruit (Mopani District)

EXCO has resolved to visit the communities around Maruleng following the recent floods that have ravaged infrastructure and cost human lives. Preliminary assessments have revealed that areas such as Mulalani, Hoedspruit, Kampersrus and surrounding villages have been adversely affected by the floods.

During the visit, EXCO will receive briefing on infrastructure development and the disaster points in Mopani district municipality.

Subsequently, members of the media are invited to join EXCO to visit areas that are badly affected by floods at around 10h00 in the morning. Thereafter, there will be a media briefing scheduled for 12:00 at Maruleng municipal offices in Hoedspruit. After the media briefing EXCO will convene to have its scheduled monthly meeting.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Centre continues to work hard to provide affected families with tents, blankets, as well as food and hygiene packs.
