The Limpopo provincial government under the leadership of Premier Cassel Mathale will hold its first Lekgotla in 2010. The Lekgotla will be held in Polokwane on 4 to 5 February 2010 and attended by the Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Head of Departments (HODs), district mayors and their municipal managers, parastatals’ Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) as well as national departments in the province.
Amongst others the Lekgotla will review the work of government in the province over the past year. It will also identify challenges that have been encountered in service delivery. A programme of action for this year will then be mapped out to enhance the delivery of services.
This will be done in preparation for the State of the Province address that Premier Mathale will be delivering on Thursday, 18 February 2010, as he opens the provincial legislature. In his opening of the legislature the premier will outline the Programme of Action (PoA) that the provincial government will undertake this year. The plan of action will be in line with the theme of government for this year as announced by President Jacob Zuma, “2010: The Year of Working Together to Speed Up Service to the People.”
As we are in 2010 the executive council will also receive a report on the preparations and readiness of the province for the Soccer World Cup later in the year.
The specific focus will be on roads infrastructure, water infrastructure, emergency health services, safety and security, the Public Viewing Areas and the legacy projects that will benefit the people of the province long after the tournament.
