Limpopo Executive Council holds Lekgotla

Following the recent national cabinet Lekgotla, Limpopo provincial Executive Council (EXCO) will hold its two-day Lekgotla scheduled to commence tomorrow, 3 and end on 4 of August 2011 in Polokwane. The current provincial EXCO Lekgotla comes at a time when Limpopo is finalising the induction of new councilors in municipalities subsequent to the recent local government elections.

"Of importance to note, is that, the EXCO Lekgotla is held when the Fetakgomo local municipality in Sekhukhune and the departments of Agriculture and Local Government and Housing, have received a clean audit. The National Treasury and the Auditor General have expressed appreciation of our provincial financial management in government. Consequently, we are confident that our province will achieve the prescripts of the Operation Clean Audit – Vision 2014," said Premier Cassel Mathale.

The EXCO Lekgotla is a high level meeting and is scheduled to be attended by the Premier Cassel Mathale, Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Executive and Local Mayors, the Director-General of the Limpopo provincial government, Ms Madikolo Rachel Molepo-Modipa and Heads of Departments of the entire provincial administration, Municipal Managers, representatives of South African Local Government Association (SALGA), State Owned Enterprises and the provincial House of Traditional Leaders.

The meeting is designed to deliberate on matters that include the assessment of service delivery in line with the 2011/12 first quarter progress report on the implementation of the Annual Performance Plans (APPs) by respective departments, progress made by the provincial government in job creation, implementation of infrastructure projects, Operation Clean Audit – Vision 2014 and the Limpopo Employment Growth and Development Plan.

Lekgotla will also obtain progress reports on the implementation of the respective Programmes of Action of EXCO Cluster, 2011/12 provincial first quarter expenditure and industrial development in the provincial growth points. Implementation of service delivery plans of various departments in line with service delivery agreements underpinned by the outcomes based approach will be the yardstick used to assess and evaluate government performance.
