Limpopo Executive Council (EXCO) Lekgotla

The Executive Council (EXCO) of the Limpopo Administration will have its first Lekgotla in 2012. Limpopo Premier, Mr Cassel Mathale, will give the opening address to the Cabinet Lekgotla scheduled as follows:

The Lekgotla takes place in the last quarter of the 2011/12 financial year and as part of National Planning Framework of government, the Limpopo Provincial Government will focus on the finalisation of the provincial Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF) priorities and a review of performance on the set priorities of 2011/12.

The lekgotla will deal with the following matters:

  • Interrogate the implementation of planned projects during the 2011/2012 financial year;
  • Review expenditure trends to date and the budget adjustments as implemented following the November 2011 Budget Lekgotla;
  • Assess forecasted expenditure up to the end of the 2011/12 financial year;
  • Interrogate and approve the planned projects in relation to priorities set for the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) (2012/13 – 2014/15) as derived from the decisions at the National Cabinet Lekgotla, the State of the Nation Address and the January 8 pronouncements; and
  • Assess progress on implementation of key programmes by State-Owned Institutions in 2011/12 as well as their plans for 2012/13.

The key underlying theme will be “how to accelerate programs to meet the 2014 targets”.

The Provincial Treasury will present the analysis report of the budget against the MTEF provincial priorities and the 2011/12 expenditure trends.

Each Department will prepare a presentation highlighting MTEF (2012/13 – 2014/15) key projects aligned to Limpopo Employment, Growth and Development Plan (LEGDP) and its associated implementation plan as well as infrastructure planning, procurement and roll-out including the plans for localisation and exploiting the backward and forward economic linkages.

The Office of the Premier and the Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism will prepare a progress report on the implementation and operationalisation of the Project Packaging and Funding Unit and the Provincial Capital Risk Fund towards acquiring funding for and implementation of the High Catalytic Growth Projects in the Province

There will be a reporting on infrastructure planning, procurement and roll-out including the plans for localisation and exploiting the backward and forward economic linkages.
