The Limpopo Department of Agriculture introduces Extensions Awards to improve service delivery

The Limpopo Department of Agriculture has introduced an award system in recognition of excellent services which its foot soldiers in extension and advisory services render to the communities.

The focus will be on the field workers who regularly interact with farmers and directly provide extension and advisory services. Outstanding field workers will be recognised to motivate them to go beyond the call of duty in ensuring the mandate of government, the Limpopo Department of Agriculture in particular, is achieved.

Some of the issues the department will confine itself to include client orientation and customer focus, service delivery innovation, problem solving analysis, people management and empowerment, communication, honesty and integrity, knowledge and information management and project management. All these will serve as the main criteria to distinguish excellent field workers.

The adjudication committee will determine the type of the award which includes a study visit that will expose winners to the best local, national, regional and international practices in various fields of agricultural development.

The awards will cover the following categories:

* advisor and senior advisor
* subject matter specialist
