The Limpopo Department of Agriculture will once again use the month of August to bestow accolades to female farmers through the annual Female Farmer of the Year competition. The objective of the awards is to empower women in agriculture by recognising their contribution and increasing visibility in the sector.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual competition which has been instrumental in transforming the sector and introducing women to commercial agriculture.
The awards ceremonies will kick off with districts awards ceremonies scheduled as follows:

The districts finals will be a build up to the provincial finals scheduled for 22 August 2009 in Polokwane and the National finals scheduled for 29 August 2009 in Bloemfontein.
The theme for this year’s competition is “working together we can do more”.
