The Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs will be hosting a provincial human settlement indaba and youth summit, under the Leadership of MEC Soviet Lekganyane as from 22 to 23 November 2011 (Tuesday & Wednesday) at Mogol Club in Lephalale. Apart from the purpose of the provincial human settlement indaba and youth summit being to solicit inputs from all stakeholders regarding 2030 vision and consolidate a programme of action where in our people are encouraged to utilise their talents and energy to help government.
Its core objectives are to develop a shared understanding and cocensus regarding implementation of 2030 vision, to mobilise stakeholders to participate in the human settlements delivery value chain, to provide a structured platform to engage youth in broader 2030 DHS (Department of Human Settlements) vision, as outlined by Minister Tokyo Sexwale of Human Settlements during the 2010 Budget Speech, where the honour of the day will include deliberating ways and mechanism of operationalising outcome based approach.
The provincial human settlement indaba and youth summit is targeted at various audience frommayors and councilors responsible for housing, national house of traditional leaders, banking institutions, national department of human settlements, mining houses, development agencies, parastatals, housing advisory board, SALGA (South African Local Governance Association), National youth development agency (NYDA) to business communities.
During the two days, participants will get the opportunity to participate in provincial human settlement developed strategy, improved housing delivery instruments, common approach in ISHS (Integrated Human Settlements), Implementation system that effectively responds to housing needs, and enhance project design inputs.
