Deputy Minister Dr Molefi Sefularo will officially launch the World Health Organisation (WHO) Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2008 to 2013, in Pretoria on Thursday, 22 October 2009.
The CCS is a reference document. It serves as a planning, budgeting and resource guide for the biennial programme budget and reflects the priorities of the organisation.
South Africa's CCS will cover the period 2008 to 2013. It will help the Department of Health to align some of its activities with those of the WHO.
The CCS provides an opportunity for the WHO Country Office to harmonise its planning cycle with that of government, development partners and other United Nations agencies in the spirit of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). It is a dynamic and evolving document which will continue to be reviewed from time to time.
Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the launch of the WHO Country Cooperation Strategy scheduled as follows:
Date: 22 October 2009
Venue: Southern Sun Hotel, Corner Church and Beatrix Streets, Tshwane (Pretoria). Entrance on Beatrix Street.
Time: 13h00 to 15h00
The launch will be followed by questions from the media. One-on-one interviews with the Deputy Minister or the WHO Representative in South Africa, Dr Stella Anyangwe, will also be accommodated.
