Launch of the provincial rural development pilot system

The honourable premier announced in the State of the Province Address that the provincial rural development site will be at the Mhlontlo local municipality.

Since then, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been working with provincial and local stakeholders to prepare for the launch of the pilot site.

All stakeholders and members of the community are invited to join the Eastern Cape provincial government in the launch of the pilot site. The launch will coincide with the “Nelson Mandela Day,” a day on which the people of our continent and the world will celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 91st Birthday.

We do this heeding the call made by President Jacob Zuma in the State of the Nation Address when he called on all of us to “spend at least 67 minutes of our time doing something useful within our communities, especially among the less fortunate.”

The premier of the Eastern Cape, honourable Noxolo Kiviet, will officiate and deliver the key note speech at the launch that will take place as follows:
