Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters (MP) will launch the first commercial wind farm in Coega, Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape.
Members of the media are invited to cover the launch of the first commercial wind farm developed by a Belgian company, Electrawinds at Coega Industrial Development Zone (IDZ). Electrawinds, a renewable energy company from Belgium, is the largest private company of green electricity in Belgium.
The wind farm will have a total power capacity of 57.5MW which is about 10 percent of the Nelson Mandela Bay electricity consumption and can power approximately 80 000 homes with green energy.
Electrawinds pioneered wind farm development in Belgium and manages wind farms from the early stages of Greenfield Project Development, financing, construction management and operated from wind, solar and biomass in Europe.
The minister will be accompanied by Coega Development Corporation CEO Mr Pepi Silinga and Electrawinds Business Development Director Mr Jan Dewulf.
