Labour to review minimum wages of domestic and contract cleaning workers

The Department of Labour in its mandate to protect vulnerable workers is currently conducting public hearings on the domestic and the contract cleaning sectors in the country. In Free State the consultations will be held in Bloemfontein this coming weekend until Monday, 30 May.

The public hearings seek to review the current sectoral determinations for domestic and for contract cleaning workers which lapse on 30 November this year and determine workplace conditions and minimum wages in this sector in terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).

Employers and workers of these two sectors, organised labour and interested parties are urged to participate and give pertinent inputs in these consultations as they will shape the future of the two labour legislations. Media is invited to attend.
