Reducing unemployment and fighting the shackles of poverty in the Free State will become a focal point of discussion among Labour Department officials and employers in the Province, during a seminar focusing on ways to maximize utilisation of the Department’s Public Employment Services (PES).
The Seminar which will be held on Wednesday, 24 August 2011, is the first of four planned for the Province aiming at engaging employers in public and private sectors on finding ways to facilitate job creation within both sectors.
This includes creating sustainable employment opportunities for the thousands of job-seekers that register with the Department on a daily basis.
The Department, through its Public Employment Services, provides services such as registering job seekers on the Employment Services System (ESSA), recruiting and referring qualifying candidates to employers, facilitating the placement of job seekers into employment, career guidance and job hunting skills workshops, special services to designated groups (people with disabilities, retrenchees, youth, women, etc) and accessing training grants to re-integrate job seekers back into labour market.
