Justice Deputy Minister Andries Nel, to participate at the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) roundtable series on bridging the gap between constitutional rights and homophobic realities

The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr Andries Nel MP has accepted an invitation by HSF to participate at their next round-table discussion under the theme Bridging the gap between constitutional rights and homophobic realities.

The department views this as an opportunity to engage with the civil society to communicate government's approach to protecting and promoting the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgendered and intersexed people (LGBTIs).

To also share the government's perception of the severity of the problem of hate crimes such as 'corrective' rape and the government's proposed approach to address this problem.
