Invitation to provincial media launch of Integrated Provincial Strategy to Prevent and Combat Sexual Offences and Programme of Action of 16 Days of Activism on No Violence Against Women and Children

The North West province is to launch its integrated Provincial Strategy to Prevent and Combat Sexual Offences and its programme of action for this year’s 16 days of Activism on No violence Against Women and Children campaign tomorrow Thursday, 25 November 2010. The launch is to be held at noon at the Manamakgotheng Community Hall near Moruleng.

North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa is scheduled to launch the integrated Provincial Strategy to Prevent and Combat Sexual Offences at the commencement of the annual campaign aimed at empowering communities on the prevention and appropriate responses to gender violence in the society.

The provincial Department of Public Safety is the lead department that has driven the process towards the adoption of the integrated Provincial Strategy to Prevent and Combat Sexual Offences. The initiative is a sequel to the National Anti-Rape Strategy adopted by Cabinet in 2000 in response to the alarming rate of rape in the country.
