Invitation to the launching of the report: guidelines report on the African Ritual of Animal Slaughter

The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) will officially launch a guidelines report on the African Ritual of Animal Slaughter.

Aside from the CRL Rights Commission’s attempt to fulfill its mandate-through this report, the report itself is a valuable snapshot that confers and highlights the guidelines to be followed when slaughtering an animal for a ritual. The report aims to strike a balance between an individual right to slaughter an animal for ritual sacrifice and the animal welfare. The report also aims at giving voice to the voiceless communities of South Africa in general, and specifically the traditional practitioners who are affected in South Africa today.

This event is strategically taking place during the Human Rights month. As this is an issue of national interest, your support in covering this newsworthy item will add much more value to our society.

The event is scheduled as follows:
Date: 29 March, 2011 (Tuesday)
Venue: Parktonian Hotel Braamfontein
Time: 09h00 to 13h00
