Invitation to the Eastern Cape provincial N6 road cleansing ceremony

In collaboration with the provincial Department of Transport, Roads and Public Works, the Amathole District Municipality wishes to extent and invitation to all our media stakeholders to the N6 Road Cleansing Prayer Ceremony to be held on Thursday, 29 March 2012 in Cathcart.

The N6 cleansing ceremony is an initiative aimed at creating awareness amongst drivers, pedestrians and commuters about the danger of road rules neglect.

Most common in the accidents that have taken place on this route are of  vehicle drivers who drive under the influence.

"This is one area that when we receive a call out to an accident scene we almost always declare DOA"- said Paramedic Fumanekile Vimbani.

According to Vimbani the most common types are "head on collision which often are due to high speed and driving under the influence of alcohol".

Church leaders, school children, various bus and taxi associations, commuters, farmers as well local business owners, particularly tavern owners have been invited.
