Invitation to briefing on Taking Parliament to the People

The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) has for the past six months been working on the ground in Limpopo preparing for the taking Parliament to the people visit scheduled to take place from 23 to 26 March 2010, at the Greater Tubatse local municipality in the Greater Sekhukhune district municipality.

Part of the preparatory work included meetings with the leadership of the province, local government and traditional leaders, a public meeting to afford people an opportunity to inform the content of the planned programme and site visits to follow up on issues raised during these initial meetings and fact-finding assignments.

It forms part of the new approach to ensure that the programme responds to the expectations of the province and its people in facilitating the resolution of service delivery challenges.

The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), the Honourable Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu and the Speaker of the Limpopo provincial legislature, the Honourable Rudolph Phala, invite journalists to a media briefing on the new approach to the Taking Parliament to the People programme, the work done so far and about preparations for the week-long visit later this month.
