Invitation to attend and participate in the planning meetings for Child Protection Week (CPW) 2011

The Department of Social Development introduced Child Protection Week (CPW) in 1997, in order to raise awareness, as well as to mobilise all sectors and communities towards the perspective of a holistic development and the care and protection of children. The CPW has become an annual campaign to educate and mobilise communities to put children first. The campaign is led by the Department of Social Development.

By virtue that child protection requires an integrated support and approach, directorates within the chief directorates: children and communication are invited to attend and participate in the task team meetings for the planning of CPW activities. This year CPW will be commemorated from 30 May to 5 June 2011.

The five year theme starting from 2011 to 2015 is, “Working together to protect our children”, in order to uphold government’s commitment to protect and promote children’s rights in partnership with civil society.

Details of the first CPW task team meeting are as follows:
Date: 16 February 2011
Venue: S 850, HSRC Building
Time: 09h00 to 12h00
